Financial Achievements Continue With CMSD's 8th Consecutive PAFR Award

(Costa Mesa – CA) The Costa Mesa Sanitary District (CMSD) received its 8th consecutive Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting (PAFR) less than a week after receiving its 12th straight Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. Both awards are presented by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA), a leading coalition of public finance professionals. Developed in 1991 by the GFOA, the PAFR award program encourages local governments to summarize their financial statements into shorter, easily understandable reports. The PAFR is meant to be simple and accessible, particularly for those interested in government finances but who may not have a background in finance. 

Though not all local agencies develop a PAFR, CMSD has long been a champion of the document and its importance to government transparency. CMSD's 2022 PAFR includes a general overview of the District and its programs, goals, operations, and financial position.
