Brett, along with his wife Kelly, live in Costa Mesa with their four children. He attended Corona del Mar High School and graduated with a BS in Marketing from Southern Methodist University. Brett is owner of a commercial subcontracting company focused on structural steel metal decking for both public and private projects. Along with running his business, Brett is also the President of the American Subcontractors Association of California and the Los Angeles/Orange County/Inland Empire local chapter.

Brett has served in a variety of positions in the Newport-Mesa community. He served as Chairman of the City of Costa Mesa Parks and Recreation Commission and was also a Member of two Costa Mesa City Committees. With four kids who have played youth sports in Costa Mesa, Brett has served in various sports organizations – former President of AYSO Region 97 and Newport Harbor High School Boys Lacrosse Booster Club. He has coached youth soccer for over 16 years as well as a referee. Currently Brett serves as a Board Member of Costa Mesa United and Chairman of the Youth Sports Commission.
