Michael "Mike" Scheafer was born and raised in the Costa Mesa area.  A graduate of Estancia High School, he attended Orange Coast College and holds a degree in Political Science from Cal State Fullerton.  Mike is an avid Angels baseball fan, surfer, cigar smoker, but most of all a proud Grandpa.  Mike is married to Sandi and they raised three sons in Costa Mesa. Mike and Sandi enjoy traveling, especially in their motor home.  Mike has been an agent for State Farm Insurance in Costa Mesa for close to 40 years. He holds various insurance industry awards.

At the community level, Mike has served on the Boards of many organizations.  He is a member of the Costa Mesa-Newport Harbor Lions Club, and served as Lions District Governor in 1997-98. He continues to work on various Lions projects on the state, national, and international levels.  Mike has chaired their annual Fish Fry a number of times.  His other areas of service include: Board member of the Boys and Girls Club of the Harbor Area, Board Member of the Costa Mesa Senior Center, Board Member of Costa Mesa United, Board Member of the South Coast Children’s Society, and Member of the Newport Elks Lodge.  In 1986, Mike was one of the original founders of the Costa Mesa Little League.  He then served as an Assistant District Administrator for Little League District 62.  He continues to coach with his son Matt in the Ocean View Little League program.  Mike is a former Costa Mesa City Council member and served previously as President of the Costa Mesa Sanitary District Board.  Mike has also served as a member of the Costa Mesa Parks and Recreation Commission.
