Green Guide

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle...
Mention these words to most people and they may only think about recycling bottles and cans. But conservation is more than just getting money for your CRV! The Costa Mesa Sanitary District (CMSD) has put together this Green Guide for Green Living to help you make responsible choices when disposing of waste. In addition to taking advantage of the programs listed in the Green Guide, CMSD reminds you to:

  • Use reusable bags when you shop (not just at the grocery store) to reduce the amount of plastic shopping bags
  • Purchase materials in bulk when possible to reduce packaging waste
  • Donate usable items to friends, family, or local charities instead of throwing them away
  • Keep waste out of the street to maintain our community's beauty and protect our waterways. Trash that is left in the street can be swept into the storm drain system, which eventually flows into the Pacific Ocean.
