OC Household Hazardous Waste Collection Centers

batteries, cleaning products, paint cans, and electronicsAll Orange County residents can take household hazardous waste (HHW), electronic waste (e-waste) and universal waste (u-waste) to any of the County's HHW Collection Centers. As a convenient alternative to these drop-off centers, Costa Mesa Sanitary District solid waste customers are eligible to have HHW collected from their doorstep at no additional cost! Simply visit our service request webpage to schedule an online request for HHW collection.

When transporting HHW to the Centers, please be aware that:

  • A maximum of 15 gallons or 125 pounds may be transported per vehicle, per trip. It is illegal to exceed these limits.
  • Containers larger than 5 gallons will not be accepted.
  • All materials must be kept in their original containers (except motor oil, antifreeze, and fuels).
  • All containers must have lids and be sturdy, non-leaking, labeled and protected from breakage.
