Every September, Newport Bay Conservancy hosts a volunteer deep cleaning of the Upper Newport Bay. In recent years, the Bay has seen an increase in litter, especially from single-use plastics, disposable masks, and gloves. We need your help to remove trash from the uplands and marsh areas of the Bay in order to protect local wildlife and public health. Last year alone, volunteers removed over 10,000 pounds of trash!
This year, CMSD will be hosting a booth at the Peter and Mary Muth Interpretive Center and inviting residents to join our CMSD cleanup group. We'll provide free snacks and sustainable giveaways for those who volunteer! To register for CMSD's cleanup group, visit Eventbrite. When registering, be sure to enter "CMSD" under "Company" in order to join our group.

3:00 - 7:00 p.m.
290 Paularino Avenue, Costa Mesa, CA 92626
For the first time ever, CMSD is hosting an Eco Expo featuring useful recycling tips, educational demos, and hands-on activities for the whole family! This is your opportunity to "talk trash" with industry professionals and learn about what happens to your trash after it's collected. We'll cover all things recycling, including how your food scraps and yard waste are recycled, which materials belong in which cart, how to swap out single-use household products for reusable ones, and how to upcycle any container into a gorgeous succulent terrarium! Attendees will walk away with tips, tricks, and free tools to reduce your household waste. You won't want to miss it!
